Hymac 580C With Ford Straight 6 - Runs And Tracks But Needs Tlc

Get your offers in before Saturday 1st September or it’ll be gone on Sunday! A Hymac 580C Old, well used and with loads of play in the pins and bushes but still starts first time, tracks and digs. Engine is a bit smokey as you’d expect but it does run well. Previous owner put a new injector pump on it back in early 2017, along with oil/filter changes. It’s only been run for a few hours since.

I’ve used it to track in brick rubble, which the big wide steel tracks are perfect for doing. The digger bucket is probably the wrong one as the pins are loose. If you wanted to use it for digging, you would want to check over the pins and bushes and make them all secure, a couple are loose and all have play. Bucket ram is leaking. I bought a seal kit but didn’t get around to fitting it, will throw it in if you want it, along with a spare drive chain link (new).

The bucket ram seal shouldn’t be too difficult to fit, it looks like it’s been off before. The Hymac is in my field at Sherfield English, SO51, 5 miles from Romsey in Hampshire. It weighs around 12 tons so will need proper transport to move it, which you will need to arrange. I do know a man with a tractor and low loader, which could be used for local deliveries of say up to 10-15 miles. Any further would need to be arranged by yourself.

It will track itself across the field and up the lane if you need to. Reason for sale is I’ve found a more modern Poclain that I’ve done a deal on. I’ve worked out a trade-in (he wants the engine for tractor pulling) so if this doesn’t sell, I’ll trade it in for the next on in early September. Be quick with your offers. The engine is worth around £1500 and the rest is worth another £1800-odd in scrap, so the start price is less than scrap value.

As such, no silly offers please as I can already weigh it in for more than what I’m asking here. It goes without saying that this is sold with no warranty, no returns and no refunds. It’s a very old digger that will need a fair bit of TLC to get it back to full digging order.
