Liebherr R900B digger / excavator. Year 1987, 13 ton machine. Starts, runs, tracks around and digs holes. Tired old machine but does the job. Very good starter, first spin every time.
Deutz 4 cyl air cooled engine. Runs well but breathes very heavily indeed. Admittedly its been like it for the last couple of years that ive had this machine and got no worse, plenty of power and no excessive exhaust smoke, but its clearly not right. Key start- pull stop broken, you have to stall it. Tracks around fine, both tracks are strong, and even speed, just bloody slow!
It doesnt stop or run out of power but its not for racing thats for sure! All arm functions work. Servo controls. Its definately a bit short of power, struggles with that big 4' bulk bucket thats in the picture. It will dig a hole just about with it, but it struggles.
We have mainly used it with that bucket for loading woodchip, topsoil etc into trucks. It does that fine. Theres also a grading bucket that comes with it (pictured) It manages that much better. Generally no bad leaks. Dipper ram does leak badly when used heavily though, fine when grading, loading etc but if heavy digging it will squirt oil once it gets hot.
Pins and bushes all have a fair bit of wear (its 30 odd years old). Headstock pins were really worn, so have been shimmed down to 50mm instead of the original 60mm. Not the tidiest of jobs but this has at least made it useable again. No windscreen, no glass in the cab door. No working lights Both rear access panels are bent as pictured.
Ive done loads of work with it over the last couple of years but dont really need such a big thing now. Not up to much I admit, youre not gonna be digging out lakes or massive deep footings with it, but for tracking in a bit of hardcore, loading lorries, site clearance etc its just the job.
