Equipment Type: Hydraulic Excavator
This machine is sold as is where is with no warranty at all. Payment in full required within three calendar days of end of auction. I've owned this Kubota KX161-3 Super Series Excavator for many years. It has been very dependable and I have thought about hanging on to it. I have a new machine though and it's hard to watch it just sit in the yard and go unused.
I recently spent about four or five thousand dollars on tracks, sprockets, rollers, and repacking the boom cylinders. I planned on setting the machine up to run a brush cutter but I just really don't need it enough to justify keeping it. The good. Engine runs very good. Does not use oil.
No known coolant leaks. Has never overheated. Tracks, sprockets, and most bottom rollers are OEM new with less than 20 hours on them. Parts were purchased from Star Kubota in Hammond, LA so fit and design is accurate for machine. I think there are 2 bottom rollers on each side which will need to be replaced soon.
They were replaced before the new parts went on and were not totally worn yet. All boom cylinders were rebuilt @ 20 hours ago. I did notice one had a tiny drip of oil but that might have been left over from the rebuild. Track motors were rebuilt somewhere around 500 hours ago. Travels correctly and the high speed travel is very fast.
Machine comes with 4 quick change buckets, 24 inch, 16 inch, and 12 inch heavy duty trenching and 60 inch clean out buckets. The bad. Seat needs rebuilding or updating. Starter needs rebuilding or replacing. It works but clicks often as if the solenoid is failing.
Currently it will start the machine. Floor mat is worn. 4 bottom rollers will need replacing soon. Angle blade cylinder will need to be repacked soon. Small amount of oil leaks.
Usable as is. NOTE, the auto idle function is not working. I think this is an easy repair to replace the part which controls that. Currently the machine will not idle up and I have simply been using a bungee cord to hold the throttle at the pump to increase the engine speed. You can use the machine this way but it's terribly inconvenient and probably not expensive to solve.
There is considerable slack in the bucket pins. I use it this way and have no problems laser grading ditches and laying gravity flow pipe but the bushings should be replaced and the boom may be worn enough to need to be bored. My Opinion This machine is great for demo work with the hydraulic thumb. You can clear small trees and brush really fast with it. And it's easy to stack or load logs, brush, or debris with the thumb.
The machine needs some TLC which I just don't have the time to handle. I could bring in my mechanic and do it but then I'd either decide to keep the machine or expect more money for it. So if you're good with tinkering on things you can save some cash and knock these things out yourself. The machine will clean up pretty good. The most important things is the engine runs great and the tracks are new.
If the machine doesn't sell I won't mind keeping it and getting a few more years of income from it. While I have made my best attempt to accurately describe the defects of the machine there could be others I'm not aware of. I prefer to make all defects known ahead of any negotiations but with heavy equipment it's not always possible. If you wish you are welcome to make an appointment to visit and inspect the machine. I'm not yet sure of the year and the serial number is hard to make out but I should be able to make a call and find out soon and update that info here.
Payment and Pickup Shipping is up to the buyer and the machine must be removed within 15 calendar days of the end of auction. A deposit of $500.00 must be made via PayPal within 48 hours of the end of auction or the machine will be listed for sale again. The balance of payment must be made in cash or certified funds within three days of end of auction. Machine will not leave here until funds have cleared. This means if you give me any sort of check my bank must be willing to guarantee the funds.
Cash is preferred. Buyer should inspect the machine prior to purchase by appointment. Failing to do so may result in your bids being canceled. I need contact info, name, phone, etc before you bid if you have no feedback. It costs money to resist an item because someone bid, won, and didn't bother to pay so I need to know a new classifieds board member with no feedback is a serious contender. It's only fair for the other bidders in the auction. On Mar-06-20 at 11:46:52 PST, seller added the following information: I contacted the local Kubota dealer with the serial number and was told this machine was placed in service in 2005.
