The Kobelco has an operating weight of 1,650 kg and a dig depth of 2150mm. The Kobelcos’ greatest asset is its ability to retract its undercarriage to a width of only 990mm. This allows it access to most backyards, it can then spread its tracks to a width of 1320mm to give more stability and digging power. When the undercarriage is at 1320mm width, the machine becomes true zero tail swing, this means there is no overhang of the rear portion of the machine housing, allowing 180 degree rotation of the housing without risk of hitting anything.

The machine is capable of digging and dumping behind itself in an area only 1.5M wide. The machine is fitted with rubber tracks providing minimum impact to soft surfaces and no scratching or chipping of hard surfaces. The three post canopy provides roll over protection and falling object protection but can be removed in suitable circumstances to allow access through areas with low headroom.
