1983 John Deere 690B hydraulic excavator for sale. The machine is powered by a 6-cylinder John Deere turbo diesel engine. The engine starts easy and runs out strong. The machine hydraulics seem normal (picks itself off the ground with no struggling) and strong however the track drives are slow. They seem a little slow in both directions.

I see there is a factory manual speed selector cable in the cab that regulates power to the tracks and takes away from the boom functions and visa versa. I move the cable and seems like it has no effect on operating it. Perhaps something in the valve is hung up or ? You are buying it as-is. It will walk and dig no problem, if you can live with the slow travel speed.

Maybe it is something simple. It has pilot controls in the cab which is kinda rare in an older machine like this. The undercarriage is in nice shape. The machine is 7'11" wide. This would make a cheap digger for a farm or someone that wants to clear some land without spending a ton of money.
