IHI IS-30S Mini Digger 3 Tonne. New Tracks and Sprockets.... Open to an Offer 5870 hours I will be honest with you. I am a private seller not a business. I bought this IHI digger about eight years ago from classifieds board. I was told it was a Kubota.
That turned out to be false. My mistake, it does look like one. Anyway this thing turned up at my house and it was a wreck. I restore classic cars well I did until I retired. I looked at it and well the restorer head and heart sprung into action. The tracks were like pieces of wet spaghetti worn pins and almost smooth sprockets.
The front dip arm bucket bracket was bent and it ran like a bag of frogs, The seat was knackered and the battery was flat.. it had a few leaks as well. Not to mention the door was missing. The heater worked which was good.I needed this thing to be reliable.. so I in my usual style of see then end result in my mind and got cracking.I first discovered that it was not a Kubota but an even better and stronger machine the IHI-30-S. Weighs in at 2950KG so not a micro digger.AH.. so I thought best look for some parts. The engine was easy and simple ISUZU 3 cylinder 3AE1 a few parts later and it was running like a dream, no smoke and nice and powerful.
The bent bit on the bucket arm. I took it off and sent it to be remade. That was fixed. I was using it to cut logs so I had a grab fitted to it. ( Green thing at the front) It is piped for a breaker but I bought an easily adjustable manual one.
Works superbly for picking up the odd tree. I made a new door from 10mm perspex for the rusty cab to keep the weather out and any kids. Bought a new seat and fitted it. Fixed the pipe leak.. well I had a guy do that.. Just the odd drip now and again.. New working light fitted. I then set about looking at the awful tracks and sprockets.
I found a company and they supplied me with new sprockets and brand new steel tracks. To cut a long story short they were an absolute chuff to fit on my own. But I did it and they were on. Total cost of the new bits and restoration £3500 All in all the machine although not used for three years, started first time, the controls are a little stiff with no use but they will loosen off with use. It digs, tracks, slews, offsets, does absolutely everything that you would need a digger to do and at a fraction of the price of a nasty example. The pins have a little wear as you would expect, but its a good machine.
I even have the service manual for it. I will let it go with a grease gun and a load of grease cartridges, plus some spares I have oil and fluid etc.. I am open to offers so don't be afraid to ask.. nothing stupid you understand. It may be old but its got a good few years left in it. Ideal for a farm, builder etc. We are considering moving house so it has to go.
You will need a trailer that can take 3 tonnes. I have seen these for hire all over the UK. Collection only, no delivery. I will throw in the trickle charger and the cool flashing yellow light. Digger is in Sheffield.
I can send a video of it doing its stuff if that helps. But it works well... I have a grading bucket for it as well.. Message me any questions. Cash preferred. NO VAT on the price Thanks for looking.
