Equipment Type: Mini Excavator
Fully operational. Year 2003. Low hours: 1,832 hrs, 16 hp diesel motor, expandable tracks down to 39" width, 86" digging depth. Good rubber tracks, 9" wide backhoe. Relatively good condition for its age.
Good tracks. No oil leaks. No play on rods, no play on rotunda. No rust/pitting on rams' shafts (correction: one spot was found) . Renewed roof window.
Comes with a operations/maintenance manual. Normal Florida wear and tear: cracked plastic seat, missing right rubber wrist support pad, deteriorated rubber joystick covers, spots of rust and peeling paint here and there. Minor items need attention: Weak battery. Missing engine's OFF switch solenoid. Temperature sensor needs replaced, as the indicator is permanently lit.
The engine smokes after starting. The smoke is dark, indicating oil is burned. Missing cover of the operator storage and battery compartment . There are no work lights installed. Also listed locally on Craigslist, so may need to delist it if it sells earlier.

This agile work-saver offers 3,408 lbf (15,160 N) of bucket breakout force, along with high-torque, two-speed travel. Expandable UndercarriageThe Bobcat 322 compact excavator features a hydraulically-activated expandable undercarriage. Fully retracted, overall width is just under 39 inches. Expanded, track width is more than 53 inches, providing enhanced lifting characteristics and trenching capabilities —particularly when working over the side of the excavator. Best Cycle Times In Its Class: Bobcat’s unique multi-function hydraulic feature lets the operator use up to four functions at the same time, such as those commonly employed when digging a hole or loading a truck: House Swing, Boom Up, Dipper Out, Bucket Dump.
Hydraulic SystemThe hydraulic circuit on the 322 has been simplified and the hydraulic lines re-routed. Control of work group functions has also been enhanced through advances in spool metering. Two-Speed Function On Blade Lever. The two-speed activation function has been moved to the backfill blade handle. Pressing the two-speed button puts the machine in high range; pressing it again shifts the travel circuit back to low range.
This eliminates the need for the operator to “hold” the two-speed in high range. A light on the console indicates when the travel circuit is in high. Two-Piece Pedals.Travel, auxiliary and boom offset functions are controlled by two-piece folding pedals. When these functions aren’t needed, the rear portion of the pedals can be folded forward and locked in position, allowing the operator to use them as footrests, as well as opening up more floor area for foot placement. The angle of the pedals has also been optimized for more comfortable operation.
Pedal activation is a fore-and-aft motion, which improves control over the side-to-side motion previously used. Control Pattern SelectionNow standard equipment on the 322, this feature allows the operator to quickly switch between ISO and Standard control patterns. The selection lever is located next to the operator for convenient access. Swing-Open TailgateThe swing-open tailgate permits unmatched engine serviceability. It’s made of die-formed quarter-inch steel, which eliminates the need for the cast counterweights found on competitive excavators.
The tailgate latch is hidden, and opens with a lever located in the operator area. (The upper structure of the excavator is also made of quarter-inch steel for superior strength in all applications.) Centralized GreasingFor ease of servicing, grease zerks for the swing pinion, swing bearing and offset cylinder are in a centralized location on the right front corner of the excavator. Update in response to a question from a prospective buyer: How to ship it? There are many truckers out there looking for a load. Buyers can get competitive shipping quotes online at services such as UShip, or post it on Yesterday's Tractor Co.
Hauling Schedule Service, or just approach any shipping company of their choice. UShip normally yields quotes toward the end of a week (Thursday and Friday), I guess this is when shippers are eager to fill empty space and to add extra load on their way back, while YT allows for planning further ahead. It's caveat emptor: most shippers who would move small items like this excavator are small operations, seldom either insured or bonded, which would make a difference if anything goes wrong. Most online ads come from middlemen, who would never hesitate to waste your time, so use your discretion. Update: Based on recent questions, there seem to be a misconceptions about the engine's condition.
First: Turning the engine off has nothing to do with its wear and tear. It's just an annoyance, and so minor that no-one ever bothered to fix it. You can place a solenoid there for $50 or less, or just keep pulling it manually. Second: the worst case scenario is a replacement of the motor, and most questions referred to it. There are two aspects I would like to address: It's not an engine that makes value of an excavator like that: instead its those aspects of the mechanical and hydraulic system, that are expensive to fix, such as e.g.
The swing gear, and these work fine, as far as i can tell. It's a very popular D1105 engine, that sells here on classifieds board for as little as $1k (used, listed in "excellent" condition), while the old one (that may just need new rings, liners, valves, valve seats, and a gasket kit) may be sold as a core for several hundred dollars (e.g. A good crankshaft lists for $300). It's small and weights approx. 200 lbs, so it could be replaced easily by hand (I know because I swapped such an engine in another excavator). Besides, it's not in condition that would warrant such a replacement yet, which is why i never bothered; it still works strong, actually stronger than in my other excavator.
Q: How much does this smoke after starting? Does it stop after it’s warmed up? A: A little. Yes. (Keep in mind this is Florida, it would be worse in colder climates, where most callers are from.) Q: How long you had it? A: Couple of years.
Q: With an engine swap on the very soon horizon, and me being a cash buyer what will be least that you take for the excavator. A: $10,500.00 Relisting, because the previous buyer did not come through. We require $1,000 payment within 24 hours, and pickup arranged with full payment within 7 days.
